About

A mortgage practice with the depth of a national brokerage.

Nicolee Evans is a Mortgage Broker with BRX Mortgage - FSRA #13463, one of Canada's leading independent brokerages. The work is personal - you talk to Nicolee directly - but the resources behind every file are anything but small.

Calm advisory still life

Why this work

Nicolee became a mortgage broker because she saw how overwhelming - and unnecessarily confusing - major financial decisions can feel. For most clients, a mortgage is attached to something deeply personal: a relationship, a family, a business, a fresh start, a separation, a major investment, or the quiet hope of building stability for the future.

Yet many people move through the process feeling rushed, under-informed, or treated like a file instead of a human being. That never sat right.

Experience

In the mortgage industry since 2018, Nicolee has worked extensively with clients navigating renewals, refinancing, self-employed income structures, and complex life transitions - and is particularly known for her work on divorce and separation mortgages, where strategy matters as much as emotional steadiness.

Her clients are intelligent, capable people carrying a great deal behind the scenes. They don't need pressure or jargon. They need clarity, structure, honest guidance, and someone who can help them think strategically when emotions and complexity are high.

Beyond client work, Nicolee has taught hundreds of mortgage professionals across Canada on self-employed borrower strategy and client service. She is also a published author whose writing focuses on rebuilding and moving forward after major life transitions.

Approach

The work begins with listening. Before discussing rates, terms, or lenders, we talk about what is actually changing in your life - a renewal, a relocation, a separation, a new business, a growing family. The mortgage strategy follows from that.

Nicolee works with a variety of different lenders - major banks, monoline lenders, credit unions, and specialty programs that don't appear on rate comparison sites. The right lender for your file might not be the obvious one, and finding it is part of the work.

The approach is both relational and deeply practical: explain clearly, negotiate strategically, reduce unnecessary stress, and create long-term financial flexibility where possible. Good mortgage advice should feel calm, thoughtful, and tailored - not transactional.

Outside the work

Outside of mortgages, Nicolee is interested in structured living, emotional steadiness, books, movement, and designing a life that feels grounded, intentional, and fully inhabited.

Values

What this practice will never do.

  • -Push you toward a decision before you're ready.
  • -Recommend a refinance without doing the full break-even math.
  • -Treat your mortgage like a transaction.
  • -Default to the bank's offer when multiple other lenders are on the table.
